He is very kind to record a video for one of my event. Below is the video with script.
Hi everybody, this is Neal Shaffer from Windmill Networking and I want to welcome you all to this Kuala Lumpur, KL Social Media Event. I am actually unable to come to the event today but I just wanted to tell you my own story with Kent Ong. I am here in United States and I have written two books on Linkedin, Windmill Networking: Understanding, Leveraging & Maximizing LinkedIn as well as Maximizing Linkedin For Sales and Social Media Marketing and I am currently working on my third book which is Maximizing Twitter for Business. Here in the United States, I actually consult globally for companies and what-have-you for social media strategies and implementation. You can also check out my blog at windmillnetworking.com but today is not really about me, it is about you and Kent and the other fabulous speakers that you have lined up and the social media education that Kent plans to provide and I am hoping to offer my own content to the event with a similar type of video but for the meantime, I just wanted to say ‘Selamat Datang’, ‘Terima Kasih’.
I have actually spent 15 year of my career in Asia and I speak fluent Japanese as well as Kwo Yu (Mandarin). I have actually been in Malaysia as well and Kent really wanted me to come and participate in this event because the one thing that we have in common is that we are both very passionate about educating the world about social media. The more the world knows about it, the more opportunities there are for all of us, not just for our businesses but even for us as professionals. This is really the concept behind my own theme of windmillnetworking and think Kent has grown to appreciate as well. In fact, you can say that me and Kent met at windmillnetworking, which is just virtual online networking, building trustful relationships through people that you meet on Linkedin, Twitter, blogs and Facebook. Kent and I have never met in life but we have been able to develop a relationship which started over social media to the point where…how can we work together…to fulfill his vision of bringing more social media education and therefore more opportunities for everybody in Malaysia and even beyond the neighboring countries.
What we have actually done together is we have set up a group, I have a windmill networking Linkedin group and we have set up a windmill networking in Malaysia group as well which I hope that after today’s conference, you all can join. In the future, obviously, it is not cheap to fly out to Malaysia so, we are still working out all the terms and everything but it would really be great to be able to go out to Malaysia and work together with Kent and provide you with an educational workshop or seminar so that you are not left behind in your being able to leverage on social media.
Just imagine, Kent and I have been able to develop this relationship, anyone in this room can use social media to develop relationships. People who could come today, you can use social media to continue your relationships with the people that you have met today and you could be using this to develop your own business whether in Malaysia or outside of Malaysia. And I know that obviously Malaysia is an export-orientated country so all the more reason why you want to be on Linkedin where all those big global decision-makers are and they are willing to network and make introductions.
I am sorry if I looks like I have dark eye circles under my eyes because of the shadows from the light…I am actually not that tired and not tweeting all the time but once again, I want to thank you all for coming and I think that Kent is going to have a survey or a questionnaire at the end. And based on the responses, we are going to plan out his workshops. Maybe in the near future I will have the chance to meet you in person and really getting everybody worldwide up to speed on the latest and greatest things that you can all be doing with these amazing social media tools and websites which we were not able to do this up until one or two years ago so those are leverage of the opportunities are going to accelerate very fast, similar to how those with websites and who understood the internet and beyond and how to be competitive as well.
So, thank you very much again and I hope you enjoy or enjoyed, depending on when you see this video so, thank you very much. Bye bye.
