Are your Facebook fans and Twitter followers more loyal to your companies compared to non Facebook fans and non Twitter followers? ROI Research did a survey (2997 people) on April 2011. The types of companies as below.

So, Facebook and Twitter, which fans or followers are more loyal? Let's examine the research result below.

Generally, Twitter followers (bar graph above) are more likely to talk about and recommend a company or products once twitters become a company's followers.

Compare 2010 and 2011 (the bar graphs above), a company's followers on Twitter increases in percentage of loyal (strongly agree + somewhat agree) from 40% to 46%. While Facebook only increase 2% (from 32% to 34%). Same goes to the two bar graphs below. From the survey, it seems that Twitter followers are more loyal compared to Facebook fans.

In Malaysia, Twitter is not the most popular social networking site compared to Facebook. Most Malaysians spend their time on Facebook. Rather than only depends on one social networking site, my advice is put your social media marketing plan on both websites. Slowly, your Return on Investment (ROI) will tell you which social networking site is more valuable to your company.
