From my point of view, group buying destroy value. In order for an industry or a company to stay long in the market, it needs to create or produce value to the market.

The main reason merchants don't want to give discount because there is no loyalty in group buying since there are SOOOOOOOOO many great deals. If merchants cannot get loyalty and long term customers, why should they sacrifice 50% - 70% to consumers (and commission to group buy companies).

For me, giving discount, coupon, etc is not a marketing strategy, even fool can do it because it destroy market value.

Hi Steve, thanks for your comment. Group buying is definitely not the MAIN factor in destroying the market value, but it is one of the factors. There are many ways to destroy market value.

From my experience in consulting many merchants, customers do get value, but not really sellers. Do some google search, you will know there are a lot of merchants or sellers complain about group buying.
