Global Web Index did a survey before on how young groups spend time on media. The statistics below show that young groups reject TV and love social networking sites.

I hate advertisements on Youtube that interrupt me to watch my videos. I watched only 1% of the videos and skipped the 99%. Obviously, this is not targeted marketing and I definitely will not use it to promote my company products or services.

But if you want to use it, bear in mind that you have only five seconds to attract people to watch your ads or to convert them to become your buyers. This is the only reason why people skip your ads.

I just gave a speech in Toastmasters Club this Tuesday. The topic was "The Problems of Social Media". I mentioned in the presentation there were two social media problems. First was freedom abused, the second was bad judging skill.

Today morning when I woke up, I got a news that Nicolas Cage dead and it spread all over internet. The first thing I did was Google search. I searched on CNN, CNBC, etc to made sure these big media carried Nicolas Cage news, but none of them carried the news. I can almost 90% could confirm the news was fake. Then, I got this website Nicolas Cage Dead? Actor Becomes Victim of Internet Snowboarding Death Hoax. Then I could 100% confirm the news is fake.

When I did my research thoroughly, I got this website called Fake a Wish. Key in any name, the website will give you any fake news. I tried my name and they gave me all kinds of fake news.

Look at the news above, I have the same accident as well.

I don't know you, but in order to make the world better place to live, I definitely will do Google search before I Like, Share or spread anything that affect other people lives. Internet changes human behaviour. If you already familiarised yourself with bad judging skill, it will affect every aspect of your lives. Imagine, what happen to your families if your husbands, your wives and your children do not know how to judge which is right or which is wrong? What happen to your companies if your bosses do not know how to judge and what happen to our country, Malaysia if our Prime Minister doesn't know how to judge, in fact, from my opinion it is happening now.

It is getting serious and I hate it - Youtube Video Ads.

Each time, when I want to watch Youtube videos, I need to watch video ads. They last for only few seconds only but they are very annoying. Do you watch those video ads? I don't watch them and I don't think they work as well. There are two reasons.

Interruption Marketing
As Seth Godin says in his book "Permission Marketing", consumers are in control now. We choose the ads we want to watch and we pick the commercials tha we prefer. Those Youtube video ads interrupt people to watch videos. We don't give the advertisers to watch the videos. We are forced to watch them.

"We" Cycle
In the book called Pendulum: How Past Generations Shape Our Present and Predict Our Future mentions that, today's world is a "We" Cycle rather than a "Me" Cycle. That means, we need to create relevant content to engage people. People in the ‘We’ Cycle want it real, raw and relevant to help them. Advertising is all about "Me" Cycle. Advertisers shouts in "Me" Cycle to consumers to buy from them.

I don't watch even one of them and I don't remember any video ads on Youtube. What about you? Do you watch them?
