Content Driven Marketing is Not New
Content driven marketing is not a new marketing strategy. It is long time strategy. Take a look at the video below.
Do People Scroll Down on Your Landing Page
Do people scroll down to "below the fold" on your landing pages for your websites? My answer is Yes and No. It depends on what kinds of websites you have.
Before we get into the explanation, let us understand what is "above the fold", "the fold" and "below the fold".
As you can see the image below. Above the fold means viewable without further action. Below the fold refers to that portion of a landing page whch is far enough down that it is not likely to be visible in the initial display of a standard brower windows. The fold is more of a gradient, and there is really only a small aread at the top that you can be sure is seen without scrolling.

Non-eCommerce Websites
For non-eCommerce websites, people don't like to scroll down to below the fold. We have done an eyetracking research for this website newsletter section. People are less likely to scroll down to below the fold (0% - 75%), most of them view only the above the fold (75% - 100%).

eCommerce Websites
But for eCommerce websites, webmasters don't have to worry about the problem because people do scroll down to the very bottom of websites. Below is an eCommerce website - JC Penney. As you can see, people do scroll to the very bottom for this website.

You may ask, why does this happen? Why do shoppers so differently on eCommerce webites, with complete disregard to the fold?
The reason is the intention of users who browse non-eCommerce websites and eCommerce websites. On eCommerce websites, users are in searching and hunting mode. They scroll down to below the fold because they are looking for their favourite products, compare prices, reading product descriptions, etc. The users' behaviours on non-eCommerce websites and eCommerce websites are totally different.
So, if you have very long non-eCommerce websites, how should you optimize your landing pages. There are two ways to optimize your landing pages.
1st - you put the most important information at "above the fold". E.g Free download, email subscriptions, etc.
2nd - You lead them. You optimize your landing pages by creating content that lead them from above the fold to below the fold.
