What is the book about?
The book is written by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It tells a story of a salesman named Joe, who struggles to achieve his sales goal. He is a go-getter in his office. With only a wekk left in the quarter and a critical deadline to meet. A deadline he couldn't afford not to meet, he needs big deals. Finally, he met Pindar (his mentor) teaches him five laws below (anyone should understand and apply these five laws to make their own world and our world better).

The Five Laws f Stratospheric Success
The Law of Value
Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment

The Law of Compensation
Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.

The Law of Influence
Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first.

The Law of Authenticity
The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.

The Law of Receptivity
The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

Understand and apply these five laws not only help in social media or internet marketing, they help even your lives.

Napoleon Hill - Outwitting the Devil

Wednesday, 22 August 2012 Category Book

outwittingthedevil

The most important book in my life is the Bible. The second most important book is Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. The 3rd most important book is Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. Outwtting the Devil is my fourth most important book in my life.

98% of people in this world controlled by devils.

Who are devils?
Fear, greed, bad habit, anger, selfish, etc regardless you are rich or poor. The book shows us how these devils control us through our mindset and how should we break them.

Who helps the devils to control us?
Almost everyone that surrounded you. Your government, your friends, your family members, even yourself (mindset). We live in the that full of negative energy. When we walk out, 80% of people complain their lives and blame others for their lives. They thought they are right, but in fact they poison other people's mindset surrounded them. In this book, Napoleon Hill talks about Drifter and Non-Drifter. According to Wikipedia, a Drifter is a person who is continually moving from place to place, without any fixed home or job. That means a Drifter doesn't have his own mindset and easily influenced by other people. While non-Drifter is a person know what he wants in his life, know how to set a life goal, know he is the master of his mind.

How to break it?
The most important thing one need to do in order to break the devils is having a burning desire to break it. As Napoleon Hill's wrote in his book - Think and Grow Rich (1st Chapter) - Desire. If we don't have a strong desire (or I call it WHY), we will not have HOW.

Read this book. It helps in leadership, marketing, management and every aspect of your life, even in success of social media marketing. :)

You can visit its website, Facebook page and Linkedin group:

Why You Need Dale Carnegie When You Use Linkedin

Monday, 30 July 2012 Category Book
Tweet

Dale Carnegie, was an American writer, lecturer, and the developer of famous courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. He was the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936), a massive bestseller that remains popular today (over 70 years in print)!!!

So, what does Dale Carnegie to do with Linkedin today? The answer is his book – How to Win Friends and Influence People. This classic relationship building book, one of the most important books I have ever read to build great relationship on Linkedin.

whyyouneeddalecarnagieinlinkedin

Compared to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social media platform, Linkedin is a very professional social networking site. When you use Linkedin, you can feel genuine relationship between two people.

Even though Linkedin only has 3.29% of Malaysia population, but I got a job from 2nd largest Venture Capitalist from Europe (even I have my own company), I connected with some world top Social Media authors – Neal Schaffer, Alison Woo, etc. These are the things that I couldn’t get on Facebook and Twitter.

I got all of the above by applying what I have learnt from Dale Carnegie’s book – How to Win Friends and Influence People.

For example,  1st Chapter of Part One of the book is “If you want to Gather Honey, Don’t Kick over the Beehive”. That means you better don’t critic when you need someone to work with/for you. This is the most important communication skill we need to use when we use Linkedin. If you want to build relationship, you better don’t critic the person you want to build relationship with.

3rd Chapter of Part One – “He Who Can Do This Has the Whole World with Him. He Who Cannot Walks a Lonely Way. The chapter tells us to give what people want if you want to get what you want. I always believe in one thing – “The more you give, the more you get”.  If you want your customers pay you, you better give quality services, if you need a partner to work with you, you better understand your partner and give him/her needs.

Another great chapter is 2nd Chapter of Part Three – A Sure Way of Making Enemies – And How to Avoid it. The chapter tells us never say “You are wrong”, instead we can say “from my point of view” or “from my perspective”. This is very useful when you have arguement on Linkedin group discussion.

A lot of people think that social media marketing is about Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+, etc. But the truth is, it is about building relationship. If you able to master in building relationship, you don’t have problem in your social media marketing.
