1. “A Diamond is Forever!”

In 1938, diamond prices sank fast. A year later, De Beers mining company saved the market by using the “diamond is forever” campaign and brazenly promoted the idea that every marriage required the gift of bling.

The campaign goes viral even until today….because almost every women and men believe that. This is what I always argue with my girlfriend.

2. The Diet Coke and the Mentos

Fun is a serious business. The Diet Coke and the Mentos is the great example. Drop Mentos mints into 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke and the thing blows. The fun thing is created by Steve Spangler and became phenomenon in 2015. The most important thng was, sales of the Mentos and Coke hit the roof.

This is a classic successful viral marketing strategy.

3. T-Mobile Flash Mobs

T-Mobile flash mobs “Life’s for Sharing”” is another great viral marketing strategy. The flash mobs was created by Saatchi & Saatchi. A group of people assembled briefly in public to perform some kind of action). The video generate millions of page views on Youtube.

4. Apple’s 1984 Super Bowl Commercial

A single Superbowl commercial divided the world of computer to PC and Mac in 1984. The concept of the commercial is a roomful of drones stares at a large screen where an authority figure bleats propaganda. Suddenly, a strange woman bursts into the room, hurls a hammer at the screen and smashes it to bits. The scrolling text is “On January 24, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you’ll see why 1984 won’t be like 1984”.

The commercial didn’t explain the products or any of its benefits, but it promised a lifestyle change.

5. Use Social Media to win an Election – Barack Obama

The campaign manager David Plouffe got the first black president elected. In addition to the instantly iconic poster and slogan, there was a skillful use of web and social media, from early discussions with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to responding to negative reviews online.

AdAge readers voted Obama the “2008 Marketer of the Year” even before he won the White Hoouse.
